Charlotte Wensley is a mixed media artist specialising in collage, printmaking, and acrylics, with over 25 years of experience. From her first large-scale creation—drawn on the living room wall at age four—to her current practice, Charlotte has pursued art as a means of communication and exploration. Influenced by European modernists, the St Ives School, and the natural cycles of renewal, her work combines findings from nature with the precision of human endeavor, such as architecture, textiles, and technology. Through layered textures, rich colours, and dynamic forms, Charlotte seeks to convey the rhythm, energy, and emotional depth of life’s complexities, leaving viewers feeling both uplifted and inspired.
Originally from the UK, Charlotte discovered her love for mixed media and methods of construction during her art college years, where she studied metalwork, woodwork, and silversmithing. After emigrating to Australia in 2001, she returned to her 2D practice, incorporating global influences from her travels. Her work reflects a vibrant interplay between natural and constructed environments and celebrates the diversity of human experiences.
Charlotte holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art & Design Technology, a Diploma in Art Foundation Studies, and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Art & Design. A regular exhibitor on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and Melbourne, her recent accolades include being featured in Create! Magazine (Issue #47, 2024) and winning awards such as the Royal Queensland Art Society Members Annual Show (2024) and the Eclectica Art Awards Abstract Category (2023). She has also been a finalist in numerous prestigious competitions, including the Foot Square Art Prize (2023), Caloundra Regional Gallery Local Artists Local Content Art Prize (2022, 2023), and the Art2Life International Juried Art Show (2022).
Charlotte’s art invites viewers to immerse themselves in the joy and complexity of life, finding beauty in both its challenges and its triumphs.
