Camilla Grace

Camilla Grace has been captivated by the textures and forms of the natural world from an early age. Growing up, she spent hours drawing and painting rocks, trees, and mountains. Her passion for craftsmanship was fostered in her father’s workshop, where she watched raw wood transform into finely finished creations, sparking her lifelong love of experimentation.

With formal training in the arts, majoring in painting and photography, Camilla Grace has developed a rich, multidisciplinary practice that merges oil paint, mixed media, acrylic, and metal. Her work expresses abstract landscapes that reflect both the intricate details of nature and the grandeur of expansive vistas. Inspired by the delicate patterns of bark, the interplay of light and shadow, and the undulating lines of the Australian landscape, her pieces invite a sense of discovery and wonder.

Camilla Grace’s artistic influences include the luminous landscapes of Impressionists such as Claude Monet and Arthur Streeton, the bold energy of Abstract Expressionists like Joan Mitchell and Helen Frankenthaler, and the innovative terrain interpretations of Fred Williams. Ansel Adams’ dramatic photographic compositions have further shaped her artistic vision.

At the core of her work is a deep reverence for the textures, rhythms, and materials found in nature, from the fine lines of wood grain to the organic flow of metal. Through her art, Camilla Grace seeks to foster a connection to the natural world, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and engage with the beauty and mystery of abstract landscapes. Each piece is an opportunity to discover new interpretations and evoke a deeper appreciation for nature’s timeless elegance.

Process

My artworks are sculptural assembled forms that reimagine the Australian landscape in an abstract way. A visual narrative where the organic, the textured, and the digital converge and interact.

Driven by a deep appreciation for process and experimentation, I continuously explore innovative ways to merge oil painting and photography. Through this investigative approach, I have integrated painting, sculpture, and photography to create works that transcend traditional boundaries, seamlessly blending the rich textures of oil paint with the sleek, high-gloss or matt surfaces of metal.
